Diabetes: Cake à l’orange recipe, delicious dessert!

Cake à l'orange recipe, super orangey flavour! It has been a year on Youtube already and I have enjoyed every moment of it. Happy birthday Sophie de Ville!

Diabetes & yummy recipe: My cake à l’orange is a moist and delicious dessert, a bit like a pudding. It is a whole orange cake, because the entire orange is used, peel and all. Perfect for any occasion, but such a treat with a cup of tea or coffee!

Ingredients

  • 600g oranges
  • 200g almond flour
  • 80g sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp orange essence

Directions

  • Cook the oranges in a lot of boiling water for 40 minutes
  • When cooked, let them cool down and once you can handle them, chop them in large pieces. Get rid of the pips.
  • Blend the oranges
  • Mix the dry ingredients and incorporate the eggs.
  • Add the oranges, mix and put in in an oven-proof dish. 170C or 338F for 40 minutes
  • Once out of the oven, get rid of the parchment paper, do not leave it in the pan.
  • Let it cool before eating.

Diabetes & Carb content:

This orange cake is 10,8R or 108g carbs and is for 10-12 people

  • 600g oranges equals to 2R or 20g carbs
  • 200g almond flour equals to 0,8R or 80g carbs
80g of sugar equals to 8R or 80g carbs

👉You could replace the sugar by some honey that has a lower glycemic index or use fake sugar (you will need to subtract it to my total amount of carbs)
